Hi, I'm Zak the Zebra - mascot for road safety charity Brake.
Welcome to my fundraising page for schools and kindergartens! Below are some of my ideas on how you can raise money and help Brake care for families bereaved in road crashes, but feel free to come up with your own.
Fundraising is a great way to get the whole school involved with your campaign or event, such as a Beep Beep! Day or Road Safety Week. As well as supporting a worthy cause, it also helps children understand the concept of helping others.
THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK!
Bright Day for Brake
This is a fantastic mufti day that both children and staff can join in with!
Get them to swap their school uniform or normal clothes for their brightest clothing, in return for a gold coin donation to Brake. We'll provide you with posters, bucket stickers and other resources to help make your Bright Day a success. You can also run it as part of your Beep Beep! Day or Road Safety Week activities, or run it as a mufti day at any other time.
The day also helps to remind parents and the community to look out for children on foot and bike.
Find out more about Bright Days and register your event to get your free resource pack!
Bake for Brake
Grab your aprons and make some delicious treats to sell during or after school!
Baking is one of the simplest things in the world and everyone loves a biscuit or cupcake, particularly if they know their extra calorie intake is all in a good cause. You can have your own one-off sale, tie it in with a Bright Day, or sell tasty treats during a big event such as a school fete, coffee morning or disco.
I've given some classic recipes a road safety twist to give you a start:
My yummy Traffic Light Biscuits can help remind kids about safe crossing places.
My Road Safety Cup Cakes can be decorated to look like mini zebras.
I'm heading back to the kitchen to come up with some new recipes, so watch this space...
Sweepstakes are an easy and fun way of raising money within your staffroom.
Choose an event or competition to base your sweepstake on; get people to pay a set amount to enter and draw names out of a hat; give half the money collected to the winner and half to Brake.
