The 321 Challenge

Caroline RoundTheBaysIn 2016 our NZ director Caroline Perry has set herself the 321 Challenge. It involves completing 321km in 321 days, in memory of the 321 people that were killed on NZ roads in 2015 (based on provisional figures Jan 2016).

She's aiming to raise awareness of how a death on the road affects families, and the rights of families to have access to immediate and appropriate information and support. She will also be raising funds for Brake to help the charity's work to prevent road deaths and injuries and provide free support to bereaved families.

Fundraising target: $3,210

When does the challenge take place?

Between 15 February and 31 December 2016.

What does it involve?

Taking part in organised events, going on ad hoc runs in the local area and going to the gym. All adding up to 321km.

Can I join in?

Yes! You can join in by completing your own 321 Challenge, joining Caroline for part of her challenge as a jogging partner, or donating to help her reach her fundraising target!

Complete your own challenge
Set your own 321 Challenge by deciding what you want to do and when. You can complete the challenge in as long or short a timeframe as you want.

  • Complete a mixture of distances building up to something that’s a real challenge for you, perhaps a 10km run, a half-marathon or a long-distance cycle ride.
  • Do 1km a day for 321 days. Whether you walk, jog or run, exercise is good for your health and fitness, and walking rather than driving is good for the environment too. You could walk to the shops, the beach, walk to work or school, walk the dog, walk with friends – it’s up to you.
  • Do 321km a different way. How about some vertical kilometres through a skydive or bungee? Or complete some of them snowboarding or kayaking.
  • Come up with your own plan to complete 321km in 321 days! Or if that’s a bit too ambitious for you, why not sign up for just one run/jog/walk by taking part in our Virtual Run during Road Safety Week in May.

If you want to complete your own challenge, simply complete our quick online form letting us know what you plan to do.
