Brake's road safety poster competition is a fun, new project for schools that aims to inspire and engage children, aged 5-11, about the need for drivers to slow down so kids can walk and cycle to school safely.
Simply register your school to receive our free e-resource pack that enables you or the children themselves to talk about the dangers of adults speeding in their community – something that puts kids' lives at risk every single day.
Print off our poster template, get children to create powerful designs in class or at home, display their artwork in your entrance hall, and send them to Brake by Friday 9 June 2017.
Winning designs will be turned into professional banners to go on display outside the school or in the local community. The children who create the winning designs will also receive vouchers for themselves.
What does my electronic resource pack contain?
The pack includes your entry form, a template for children to use and a letter you can send home to parents. It also includes other resources such as a poster for you to advertise the competition, assembly presentation, speed fact sheet and colouring/activity sheets.
Posters mean prizes!
There will be one winner and two highly commended entries chosen from two categories – 5-7 year olds and 7-11 year olds.
WINNER – Design turned into a large banner that will go on display outside the school or in the local community. The winning child and school will be included in a special press release, inviting media to attend a launch of the poster. The winning child will also receive vouchers.
HIGHLY COMMENDED – Children will receive a certificate and vouchers. The child and school will be included in a special press release.
How can I support Brake?
If you are also able to incorporate a fundraiser into your competition that's great. Take a look at our fundraising pages for ideas, from a Bright Day, to a bake sale. As a charity we rely heavily on donations to aid our work supporting families bereaved in road crashes and working for safer roads. Find out more.
